Safety

Safeguarding is not a policy appended to our work. It is the foundation upon which everything else at Daughters of Freedom is built.

🛡️

Student Safeguarding Policy

Every student who learns with Daughters of Freedom is protected by a structured safeguarding framework embedded into every level of our operations, not treated as a supplementary measure.
Every teacher and volunteer completes a formal application, an interview, and identity verification prior to any contact with students. All staff undergo training in child protection, appropriate online conduct, and trauma-informed communication, and every individual working with students is required to sign and abide by our Code of Conduct. Concerns are never left unresolved: reports are reviewed promptly by our safeguarding team, and appropriate action is taken in accordance with the severity of each case.

🔒

Privacy

We safeguard the identity of every student and family we serve, recognizing that for many, this protection is inseparable from their physical safety.
Personal information is treated as strictly confidential and is never disclosed or published without a family’s explicit, informed consent, and even then, only when doing so is genuinely safe. Student records are maintained in secure, access-controlled systems, limited only to the staff whose responsibilities require it. Daughters of Freedom does not, under any circumstances, maintain open or publicly accessible student databases.

💬

Online Safety

All instruction and all communication between a student and her teacher take place through secure, monitored channels — never on public or easily traceable platforms.
Communication is centralized, moderated, and restricted to approved, official tools. Beyond safeguarding each interaction, we equip students with the digital literacy to navigate the online world with discernment, ensuring the habits we instill extend well beyond our virtual classrooms.

📜

Code of Conduct

Every teacher, mentor, and volunteer at Daughters of Freedom agrees to a formal Code of Conduct prior to any engagement with a student. This code governs every interaction and is treated as a condition of continued involvement with our programs, not a formality.

Our standards require that all staff and volunteers:

Communicate with students exclusively through approved, official platforms — never through personal accounts, private messaging applications, or unmonitored channels
Refrain from requesting or collecting any personal information beyond what is required for enrollment and academic support
Maintain clear, professional boundaries in every interaction, at all times
Never arrange private, one-on-one contact with a student outside of official, supervised settings
Report any concern, disclosure, or behavior that may indicate a risk to a student’s safety or wellbeing, without delay
Refrain from sharing, soliciting, or distributing any photograph, recording, or personal detail of a student without explicit organizational authorization
Conduct themselves with the same standard of professionalism and discretion expected of any individual entrusted with the welfare of a minor
Any violation of these standards is treated with the utmost seriousness and may result in immediate removal from all Daughters of Freedom programs.

🚨

Emergency Procedures

Should a concern arise, whether regarding a student’s safety, wellbeing, or any conduct that falls short of our standards, we respond promptly and with the seriousness such matters demand.
Reports are reviewed without delay by our dedicated safeguarding team, and every concern is documented and addressed according to its nature and severity. Families are always welcome to raise a concern directly, and we are committed to responding with appropriate urgency at every step.

How We Protect Your Daughter and Your Family

We understand that for numerous families, the decision to enroll comes with genuine apprehension, not only about learning, but about safety. Protecting that safety is not an added feature of our program; it is the foundation upon which it is built.
We do not publish a student’s full name, photograph, or location without explicit, informed consent from her family, and even then, only when doing so is genuinely safe. Every class and every exchange between a student and her teacher takes place through secure, monitored channels, never on public or easily traceable platforms. Our staff and volunteers are trained specifically in digital safety and are held to a rigorous Code of Conduct designed to protect both our students and their families. Where a family’s circumstances warrant additional precautions, our team will work directly with you to ensure your daughter’s education never becomes a risk to her safety.
